ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
The school is situated in the beautiful, rural setting of Samford Valley, and yet is still located in close proximity to Brisbane CBD; a vibrant, multicultural, cosmopolitan city. The beautiful sandy beaches of the Sunshine Coast are only one and a half hours to the north and the beaches of the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales are one to two hours to the south. The school is situated on 20 acres of forested land along Samford Creek.
SVSS is 34 years old and is a strong and dynamic educational facility providing an authentic Steiner Education to students from Pre-Prep through to Class 12 with double streams in 2021 in Classes 1 to 4. Student numbers are over 470 and growing, with a vibrant staff strength of nearly 100.
Our curriculum is based on the Australian Steiner School Curriculum Framework and is uncompromised right to the end of High School; including senior classes completing the NZ Steiner School Certificate (an internationally recognised secondary qualification). The College of Teachers (CoT) sits at the heart of the school structure and develops the pedagogical direction and vision from a deep understanding of Steiner’s indications and child development perspective. CoT advises a Senior Leadership Team, comprising of representatives of the different areas of the school, and a School Director who is accountable to a governance Board.
The Kindergarten Teachers creatively translate this vision and direction into observable and practical actions in a way which engages and develops the young child. Working collaboratively with and under the direction of the Kindergarten Teacher, Teacher Assistants support the delivery of a consistent Steiner curriculum within the Class.
