“I” and “us”: finding our purpose as individuals and communities
In an increasingly fragmented and traumatised world, how do the healing aspects of Steiner education contribute to wellbeing, health and a meaningful life? How do we find and harmonise our personal purpose (“I”) with the purpose of our community?
Steiner’s founding vision for education was the harmonising of the human being: bringing the eternal core of each student as an individual into harmony with their bodily nature which lives in community. At each stage of child and adolescent development our task as teachers is to educate in ways that support and strengthen this inner harmony as a foundation for a balanced and meaningful life. Our aim is to harness the transformative power of Steiner education’s core dynamic between courageous thinking (professional skill), imagination (personal creative artistry) and responsible action to build a future of balance and belonging, for our students and ourselves.
