Curative Education in Early Childhood
Join us online for an early childhood workshop over three mornings with Robyn Brown.
July 18th - 20th 2025
8am - 11am (AEST)
‘Essentially, we do not really have the right to talk about “normality” or “abnormality” in a child’s inner life … One does not gain much from such labelling … Particularly in this domain we must refrain from jumping to conclusions and simply look at things as they are.’ Rudolf Steiner, 1924.
“At the heart of Waldorf Education lies an approach that seeks to meet each child on his or her own terms, and yet the new and greater challenges presented by many children today lie outside the traditional training of most teachers.”
How can we meet the diverse needs of the children who come to us today, bringing obstacles and challenges we may feel ill-equipped to meet? How can we support all our children to develop into well-rounded individuals and maintain calmer, more productive classrooms?
Robyn Brown has worked for many years with the ideas from Rudolf Steiner’s Curative Education course and with the pictures of the seven life processes to develop a lens to view the child and their behaviour at home and in the classroom, to deepen our Steiner/Waldorf education, and to use in our day-to-day work with the children in our care. When we really observe what the child shows us daily it becomes clear what we need to give them for the work of the individuality body to do its job.
SECA is delighted to be able to offer an online training with Robyn Brown, kindergarten and class teacher, founder of Mulberry Farm Center for Curative Education in California, and author of ‘A Practical Guide to Curative Education -The Ladder of the Seven Life Processes.’
Join us with Robyn for three hours each morning from 8 a.m. Sydney time over three days to explore what it truly means to observe, and why those observations are useful. We will work into how the pictures of the curative polarities Steiner gives in Curative Education can be understood and how the conditions of the polarities affect the child and their relationship to the twelve senses. And finally, we will talk about what we can do to support the child to overcome their difficulties, both at home and in the classroom.
All interested in observation of and care for the young child are welcome, with the understanding that this workshop is most suited for early childhood and primary class teachers, educators, and playgroup leaders.
PRICING:

About the instructor:
At the beginning of her journey, Robyn completed her Waldorf teacher training at Rudolf Steiner College, Fair Oaks, California, and attended Kindergarten Seminar in Bern, Switzerland. Later, she took a class from kindergarten through eighth grade at Marin Waldorf School. Through these years, Robyn came to understand that her students needed more than she had been trained to provide for them. Her search for what more she could do led her to Sunny Baldwin at Somerset School. As Robyn describes, “Sunny’s program was based on Steiner’s Curative Education. As soon as I went to work with her, I realized I had finally found something that changed lives. The children who came to Somerset got better. Healing happened.”
After four years, Robyn moved on to found Mulberry Classroom and, eventually, The Mulberry Center for Curative Education, which has been her focus for more than 20 years. Currently, she offers a Curative Education training program and leads workshops and mentors schools around the world. In 2023 she began to phase out the old Curative Education training and replace it with one that combines Steiner’s work regarding the pedagogy with the curative lectures. She called it “Curative Education in the Context of Every Classroom.” The group that began this training in 2024 will be the last, so Robyn will not be accepting new students in the fall (September) of 2025. Although still doing a limited amount of mentoring and online workshops, Robyn is no longer traveling and is based on the West Coast of USA.
You can learn more about Robyn’s work at her website. In the meantime, parents, care providers and teachers alike can find gems of guidance in her book, A Practical Guide for Curative Education, The Ladder of the Seven Life Processes, which was published in 2016.
Registrations will open on 28 April
